The State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine ensures preparation for the regular FATF meeting

In the period from 20 to 24 February 2023, the SFMS (according to the quota of the MONEYVAL Committee of the Council of Europe and with the support of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) project) will take part in the Plenary meeting and meetings of the relevant FATF working groups, which will be held in Paris, France.

During the meetings, it is planned to consider a number of issues regarding the current state of affairs, as well as global initiatives in the area of preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

In this context, it is important for Ukraine to discuss the issues of imposing sanctions on the RF, based on the RF’s violations of its obligations within the FATF, caused by an unprovoked, bloody, aggressive war against Ukraine.

In this regard, the Head of the SFMS Igor Cherkaskyi in February 2023 once again personally addressed President of the FATF, Mr. Raja Kumar, with strong arguments why the membership rights of the RF should be reviewed, and the RF itself should be excluded from the FATF.

Moreover, in cooperation with partners from the public and private sectors, the SFMS prepared a New Video Appeal to the FATF describing terrorist risks that the RF poses to the international financial system.

This new material, along with the:

- Previous Video Appeal to the FATF (prepared for the October FATF meeting);

- Public Appeal of the Head of the SFMS to the FATF in order to include the Russian Federation (RF) in the “black list” and exclude it from the membership in this organization;

- Scheme of the RF’s negative influence on the World order and Global financial security, developed by the SFMS;

- by the address of the Head of State Financial Monitoring Igor Cherkasky in the columns of The Bloomberg Agency https://bloom.bg/3gkVddl and The Washington Post https://wapo.st/3MPxJte etc.,

is an element of the public part of communication with the FATF to draw wide attention to the relevance of the issues raised. The SFMS is grateful to everyone who participates in this activity and supports us.

Prior to the FATF meetings, we appeal to the leadership and FATF member-countries to consolidate efforts and make consensus decisions that would clearly demonstrate that the Russian terrorist regime is not capable of changing the established World order and the financing of terrorism will be suppressed.

Glory to Ukraine!
