An integrated panel discussion “Financial Monitoring 2021” is being held in Lviv

On 2-3 December, 2021, an integrated panel discussion “Financial Monitoring 2021” is being held in Lviv organized by the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine with the support of the Project Co-ordinator of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI).

Representatives of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, the National Commission on Securities and Stock Market, the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes, the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries, the Supreme Court, law enforcement agencies and representatives of professional organizations of the reporting entities take part in the discussion.

Among the participants of the event there are also international AML experts, including the MONEYVAL Chair, leading international experts, representatives of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator and the EUACI.

During the discussion, the issues related to the peculiarities of the implementation of anti-legalization legislation are being discussed, taking into account current challenges and recent trends in Ukraine's development. The participants of the discussion pay special attention to the general trends, problems and prospects of development of the prevention and counteraction system from the point of view of regulation and supervision of the reporting entities. In addition, the discussion reveals the practical aspects of counteracting to money laundering and financing of terrorism.

According to Igor Cherkaskyi, Head of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine: “This event is highly relevant and of practical benefit to representatives of public and private sectors involved in developing of an effective financial system protected from the risks of criminal interference”.

In the future, the SFMS plans to continue cooperation with the Project Co-ordinator of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine within the framework of similar events at the central and regional levels.
