The SFMS is intensifying its work in the international arena to isolate Belarus

The SFMS is intensifying its work in the international arena to isolate Belarus in connection with the obvious and undisguised actions of this state aimed at openly ignoring and violating fundamental principles and norms of international law.

Russia with the support and assistance of Belarus (logistics, airports, military bases, weapons and military equipment, military personnel, etc.) continues open aggression against Ukraine, while the troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are mounting stiff resistance.

In fact, the territory of Belarus, with the assistance and support of the political leadership of this state, acts as the bridgehead for armed aggression against Ukraine.

In this regard, the Head of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine initiated an appeal to the President of the FATF to recognize Belarus as a country that proliferates weapons of mass destruction and put it on the FATF “black list”.

In addition, taking into account the actions of Belarus, which according to a number of conventions are considered crimes of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the Chairman of the SFMS initiated an appeal to the Chairman of the Egmont Group and the Executive Secretary of the Egmont Group to exclude it from membership in this organization.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that the SFMS continues to monitor the inclusion of the Russian Federation in the FATF “black list” and its exclusion from the FATF membership (initiated by the SFMS’s letters of 27.02.2022
№ 1-вс/210-09, of 04.03.2022 № 3-вс/ 210-09, of 05.03.2022
№ 5-вс/210-09). As a part of strengthening Ukraine’s position, the Head of the SFMS sent a number of appeals to members of the European Parliament and members of parliaments of the FATF member states with a request to assist in further sanctioning of the Russian Federation.
