During 3-6 July 2023 representatives of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine are taking part in the annual Plenary Meetings of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
It is a global event, which annually gathers key players of national anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (“AML/CFT/CPF“) systems to share experiences, strategic and operational developments, study modern methods, trends and tendencies in the anti-money laundering area, and take necessary steps, aimed at strengthening the collective response of financial intelligence units (FIUs) to modern challenges.
Egmont Group, like other international organizations in this area, pays special attention to the issue of responding to global risks and threats.
We would like to remind about an unprecedented decision made by the Egmont Group in December 2022, in order to restore trust and protect the integrity of the system of international information exchange of financial intelligence data in response to the aggression of the russian federation.
Representatives of the SFMS take an active part in both global discussions in various directions, and discussions at the regional level, as well as in operational training sessions, aimed at increasing the capacity of financial intelligence units in the AML/CFT/CPF area.
Within the framework of current meetings, a consensus was reached on steps, aimed at continuing to strengthen the ability of the Egmont Group community to face modern challenges and discussing issues, intended to enhance effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral international cooperation between the Egmont Group FIU members, and specifically through project initiatives of various working groups.
The permanent work of the SFMS, as a national center for the collection and generation of financial intelligence, continues to bring results, aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, society and the state, ensuring national security.
The SFMS is grateful for the support of all international partners, namely the international technical assistance project – Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office – Project Coordinator in Ukraine for facilitating participation in the meetings.
