The SFMS has prepared a Typological study on: “Risks and threats of legalization (laundering) of the proceeds from crime, terrorist financing in the conditions of military aggression of the russian federation – 2024”
The SFMS, using its own and practice of other AML/CFT/CPF participants, and the experience of international partners, prepared a Typological study on: “Risks and threats of legalization (laundering) of the proceeds from crime, terrorism financing in the conditions of military aggression of the russian federation – 2024”.
The Typological study highlights the types of schemes for legalization (laundering) of the proceeds from crime and terrorist financing, committed in the context of russian military aggression, reveals indicators of suspicion, methods and tools of ML/TF schemes.
Attention is focused on the schemes for financing military aggression and subversive activities, on corruption crimes, and pseudo-charitable projects. Moreover, emphasis is placed on the use of cryptocurrencies, which have become one of the most attractive tools for criminal activity due to their anonymity, speed of transactions, and lack of regulation.
The research results have practical implications for conducting analysis, investigations, identifying and assessing risks, customers monitoring, regulatory measures, and improving AML/CFT strategies and legislation.
The Typology will not be posted on the official website of the SFMS, as it contains sensitive information. It will be addressed to the participants of the system.
