The representative of the SFMS took part in the conference “Securing the Integrity and Resilience of Ukraine’s Financial System” in London

On 19 June 2023, the representative of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine took part in the conference “Securing the Integrity and Resilience of Ukraine’s Financial System”, which was held in London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference.

The event was organized by the Centre for Financial Crime and Security Studies (CFCS) at RUSI and the Supervising and Monitoring Ukraine’s Reconstruction Funds (SMURF) Project.

During the conference, in particular, the following issues were discussed:

- readiness, integrity and resilience of the Ukrainian financial system to combat potential corruption-related money laundering risks;

- importance of machine-readable structured open data and open registers for corruption risks analysis;

- prevention of abuses during restore and recovery measures of Ukraine, as well as the inevitability of punishment in case of such abuses;

- responsibility of the Russian Federation for committed crimes and confiscation of their assets for the recovery of Ukraine.

Moreover, during the conference, the DREAM platform has been presented, which will record and control each stage of the life cycle of the recovery project.

In addition, during the conference, progress, impact, and effectiveness of the ongoing efforts in Ukraine by the government and civil society to build a solid and well-defended financial system in the face of financial abuses have been considered.
