The Committee of Experts of Council of Europe on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL) approved the Mutual Evaluation Report of Ukraine

Within the framework of the 55th Plenary Meeting of the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), which was hold on December 4 – 7, 2017 in Strasbourg, French Republic, the Report of the results of the 5th round of mutual evaluation of Ukraine was approved.
The Head of the State Financial Monitoring Service of Ukraine Igor Cherkaskyi noted that the approval of the Mutual Evaluation Report of Ukraine is an event that was expected by the entire professional community of the national system of financial monitoring. The work on drafting of this Report lasted more than one year and finished with its logical approval on the MONEYVAL Committee Plenary Session.
The Head of the SFMS stressed that mentioned event proves Ukraine"s status as a reliable partner of the international community in the field of prevention and counteraction to the legalization (laundering) of the proceeds of crime, terrorist financing and financing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The Mutual Evaluation Report of Ukraine is prepared based on the FATF Methodology for evaluations in accordence to which countries should take into account the effectiveness of the implementation of anti-money laundering measures and the level of technical compliance to each FATF Recommendation.            
The Plenary session discussed key findings, priorities and recommendations to Ukraine on prevention and counteraction to money laundering (legalization) of the proceeds of crime and terrorism financing.
It is expected that the Mutual Evaluation Report of Ukraine will be published by the MONEYVAL Committee at the beginning of 2018 after its analysis on quality and consistency in accordance with approved procedures.
